Job Title: Broadcast Design Engineer
Location: TWC, Atlanta
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide broadcast system design and execution of broadcast systems projects integration
- Must have demonstrated ability to do high-level conceptual designs and detailed system designs based on customer requirements
- Accurate costing and estimating of systems as designed
- Meet with project sponsors, leaders, and engineering teams to define scope of work and develop plans.
- Work with vendors to obtain accurate quotes and explore options for all current technology available to fulfill the needs
- The Design Engineer serves as a designer, project leader, and consultant
- The Design Engineer must be able to communicate effectively in order to fully understand customer needs and design systems within the budget to fulfill those needs
Qualifications:
- Thorough familiarity and experience designing modern digital broadcast systems
- Knowledge of digital video, audio, RF, computer networking and control systems
Required Skills:
- Television Broadcast System design and engineering experience
- Ability to design to standard broadcast engineering methods and practices
- Bachelors degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent; or minimum 10 years related experience in television broadcast systems
- PC and computer software operating skills required; vizRT, Word, Excel, Visio, programs
- Must have the ability to accommodate the unique needs and issues of a 24-hour operation with critical deadlines
- Must be able to organize efficiently, handle multiple tasks and work to prescribed deadlines
- Must have excellent verbal and written skills
- Must have good people skills with the ability to work well with diverse teams and individuals coming from different disciplines within the company
Desired:
- Multi-platform computer system skills (Windows, Linux, Unix, Apple OS, etc.) and basic network design skills preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCad and/or Visio helpful
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to do some light lifting
- Ability to work in tight areas such as standard broadcast equipment racks
Hours
The Weather Channel operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hours worked by The Weather Channel associates will vary according to job responsibility and scheduling demands of each department.
