"Optimal Conversion of SD, Film, and International Programs to High Quality HD"

Presented by: John Shike, Vice President of Marketing and Channel Management at Snell

High Definition television can provide spectacular images for the viewer, but programs upconverted from standard definition digital or analog sources, pulled from the archives, converted from overseas 50Hz based material, or originally shot on film often fail to meet viewer's expectations. In fact, the increased picture resolution, larger picture size, and special characteristics of today's flat screen LCD and plasma displays as a whole magnify the problems of programs not originated in HD, resulting in pictures that are less appealing than what viewers experienced with analog TV sets. The solution is in the conversion processes available and we will discuss the necessary steps for optimal results. Snell is the company formed from the recent merger of Pro-Bel and Snell & Wilcox. Mr. Shike has over 25 years of experience in the TV/entertainment equipment industry. He has held positions in product management, sales, marketing, and business development at companies including CMX, Aurora, Chyron, and Spruce Technologies. If you don't have a Turner ID Badge, please sign up here for access to the Turner Campus before noon on Monday August 10th.
