Topic:

The State of the Organization

It is becoming a tradition with the Atlanta Section to devote an occaisional meeting to an open discussion of the state of the larger SMPTE organization and to thoughts and suggestions for the activities of the local section.

For the May meeting we will have Clyde Smith, Secretary/Treasurer of SMPTE, and Jim Edwards and Paul Hogan, Representatives to the Board of Governors, to provide some insight into the current state of the International SMPTE organization. We will also have an opportunity to both review the past and provide input on future activities of the local section. This will help with planning programs and other activities for the upcoming year.

Past meetings of this type have been productive and helpful in providing direction for the section and have had a significant impact on several decisions made by the local Managers. Please plan to attend this relaxed yet productive session and help insure that the local organization remains responsive to your professional needs.

Due to Security Procedures at Turner, people planning to attend this SMPTE Section meeting must contact Zandra Clarke, Zandra.Clarke@turner.com at Turner to confirm your attendance.

All interested people are invited to this meeting. While we encourage you to join our organization, you do not have to be a SMPTE member to attend.

NOTE:  Due to Security Procedures at Turner, people planning to attend this SMPTE Section meeting must contact Zandra Clarke, Zandra.Clarke@turner.com at Turner to confirm your attendance.

Section Internet Mailing List

We have a full-featured Internet mailing list for support of Section activities. List members receive meeting notices and other appropriate announcements. The list is easily administered via the web. You can subscribe, unsubscribe, and change your list options —yourself—  on the list Info Page, or view past list messages kept the list Archive.

And now there's another list that may be of interest — AtlTech — created for those in the Atlanta area interested in broadcast, television and motion picture engineering. It is a "place" online where SMPTE members interested in the SBE can learn of what they're doing, and where SBE members can learn of SMPTE activities, etc. You can subscribe, unsubscribe, and change your list options —yourself—  on the list Info Page, or view past list message kept in the list Archive.
