Quantel, Inc. Joe Torcelli, Director of Broadcast Operations for Quantel, Inc will discuss two related topics in editing in the broadcast environment. He will describe different methods of non-linear editing for SD, HD and mixed SD/HD production, including the architecture of several stand-alone NLE systems. Topics will include compression forms used, how media is handled and interchangeability of progressive and interlaced masters. Torcelli will also discuss the architecture of NLE/Server combinations in the broadcast news industry. Topics covered will include how the low-resolution browser fits into the workflow. He will include a description of how Quantel tackles the handling of both SD and HD in the same configuration at the same time.
