P2 and AVC-I
An Advanced H.264 Intra-Frame HD Codec for High End Applications

Presented by Steve Mahrer, Panasonic Broadcast

Modern production, post production, and broadcast facilities are embracing IT
technologies at an ever increasing pace. The savings delivered by networked file-based
workflows have forever changed the capture, storage, manipulation, and delivery of
images. Image compression has advanced in recent years. When combined with an IT
infrastructure, even greater efficiencies and savings result. Mr. Mahrer will discuss the
development and demonstrate the new AVC-I HD CODEC that offers unparalleled
quality at bitrates normally associated with SD signals. AVC-I is one of the format
options supported by Panasonic's tapeless P2 product line.
