In Memoriam
The Broadcast Engineering community suffered a loss of a good friend and a talented software & hardware engineer in the passing of Mr. Douglas "Doug" V. Ingram, age 64, of Atlanta. Doug died Sunday, February 10, 2008. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Doug spent over 20 years as a Broadcast Engineer at WSVN. He worked from 1989 to 1997 as a Broadcast Engineer at WAGA in Atlanta, and then started his own business, Broadcast Software Solutions. He was well known throughout the broadcast industry, and a lifelong technology enthusiast who built his first computer in the 1970's. Doug loved still photography, classical music, and history. He was very proud of his Southern heritage. His favorite picture subjects were waterfalls and his grand kids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Linda Ingram; his daughter and son-in-law, Debora and Mike Millson; his brother, Dana Ingram; and grandchildren, Daniel and Kate Millson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Foundation for Public Broadcasting in Georgia (Georgia Public Broadcasting), 260 14th Street NW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30318.
February Meeting
(Note: 3rd Monday of the Month)
"A Checklist for Automation Efficiency"

February 18, 2008
6:30 PM Refreshments 7:30 PM Meeting
Hosted by GPTV (See Map Below)
As the television business evolves into the digital era the scope and requirements of station operations continues to expand. Multi-channel master control, new methods of transmission, alternate screens and the internet all add complexity to operations. And station engineering is asked to do more with less. In this new, metadata-rich environment automation must do much more than just control devices. Jamie Meyer, Division Manager of VCI Automation and a veteran in television automation, will discuss the implications and opportunities inherent in this evolution. For those who are planning to install, expand or upgrade station automation this program also presents a number of specific topics to address when choosing an automation system.
VCI Solutions has been provider of business, traffic and automation systems for television and multi-channel operations for over 25 years. The automation division of VCI Solutions has its roots in the technology of Odetics and DTG.
